Red Legion Earns Second Place at the NXL Lone Star Open

Red Legion left Texas with a hard-earned second-place finish in the pro division and a championship match that came down to the wire. From a strong opening day to three consecutive Sunday wins, their run at the NXL Lone Star Open showed the teamwork, discipline, and determination it takes to compete for a title.

DYE congratulates the entire Red Legion organization on an outstanding weekend. Competing in DYE gear head to toe, the team put in the work, answered tough challenges, and gave us a final to remember.

A Strong Start in Texas

Red Legion opened prelims with a decisive 6–0 win over Aftermath, setting the tone for their weekend. They finished the first day at 2–0, putting themselves in a strong position heading into Saturday.

An 8–4 victory over Chicago Distortion added another win to their record. A loss in their final preliminary match brought them to 3–1, with a place on Sunday secured.

There were standout moments along the way, including Smotrov’s decisive movement through the field and Kirill’s pressure off the break with the MXR. Those individual contributions were part of a larger team effort that carried Legion into the elimination rounds.

Three Sunday Wins. A Place in the Final.

Red Legion opened Sunday with another statement: a 6–0 shutout over Hurricanes. It was a commanding start to a day where every match determined whether their tournament continued.

Next came PB Fit. Legion earned the win and advanced to the semifinals, where Impact stood between them and the championship match.

Red Legion delivered again. The semifinal victory secured their place in the final and completed a three-match Sunday run through Hurricanes, PB Fit, and Impact.

The weekend also offered a look at the team’s next generation. MJ, a young player developed through the Red Legion training school, shared his perspective on the Impact win—a reminder of the preparation and player development behind the performances fans see on the field.

A Championship Match Decided at the Finish

The final against Damage delivered one of the weekend’s most exciting battles.

Red Legion held the lead at halftime, but a hard-fought second half brought the teams into a close finish. The match remained in the balance late, with either side capable of taking the title.

Damage ultimately claimed the win, leaving Red Legion with second place in the pro division. It was a tough end to an exceptional run, but the performance deserves recognition: Legion fought their way through Sunday and challenged for the championship right to the finish.
